Student quick start

This guide matches the ACM Platforms Interactive Learning web app (React + API): home, learning workspace with five modalities, subject routing, dashboard sessions, and plans. Your deployment URL and sign-in may differ from the example below.

Open the learning app

Local and Docker setups often use port 8000 for the web UI. Use your school’s URL if it is different (VPN or campus network may be required).

http://localhost:8000

1

Open the learning app and sign in

Your school or team gives you a URL (often port 8000 in class demos, or a custom domain in production). When the app is configured for your organization, you may sign in with AWS Cognito Hosted UI (school email / SSO). In some development setups, sign-in is bypassed—follow your instructor’s directions. Use the exact link they share if it differs from the address in the box above.

2

From home, choose “Open learning workspace”

The home page introduces the tutor as your AI learning companion. Select Open learning workspace to go to the main study screen (/learn). There is also a Company Site link on the home page that opens the public marketing site in a new context—use it if you need general product information, not for your live tutoring session.

3

Learning workspace: IQ Workspace (phone) or Learning workspace (larger screens)

The workspace title shows as IQ Workspace on small screens and Learning workspace on tablets and desktops. This is the same screen—your chat, uploads, drawing, voice, and video tools all live here.

4

Pick a subject (book icon)

Tap the round book button to open Choose subject. Subjects help route your session (for example math vs. language). They apply when you are in Text, Image, Draw, or Video mode—not when you are in Voice mode, where the subject menu is hidden.

  • General
  • Math
  • Science
  • History
  • Language
  • Computer science
5

Pick a modality (plus icon)

Tap the round + (modality) button to open Choose learning modality, then pick how you want to work. You can switch any time; each mode opens a different panel below the header.

  • Text — type questions and read replies; supports formatted explanations and math-friendly rendering.
  • Image — upload or capture homework, diagrams, or notes for analysis.
  • Draw — sketch on the pad and send your drawing like an image.
  • Voice — speak with the tutor; allow the microphone when the browser asks.
  • Video — use your camera for frames or previews where enabled; allow camera access when prompted.
6

Use the top bar: Learn, Dashboard, Plans

Learn is your workspace. Dashboard lists recent tutoring sessions (on the free tier you may see only the latest sessions; paid plans show fuller history). Plans is where subscription and billing flows live when your deployment uses them.

7

On a phone: menu and header

On narrow screens the header can stay tucked away until you scroll a bit, or you can open navigation from the floating menu control. Use that menu to reach Learn, Dashboard, Plans, and account actions.

8

Read-aloud and ads (when present)

Some builds offer read-aloud for tutor text using cloud text-to-speech. If you are on a free tier, you might see ads in the margins or on mobile—this is expected in those configurations.

9

Get better answers

Ask in short, specific sentences. For photos, use good light and frame one problem at a time. Say what you tried already. If an answer is unclear, say so and ask for another explanation.

10

Stay safe and follow class rules

Do not share passwords, full ID numbers, or other sensitive personal data in chat. Follow your teacher’s policy on AI assistance and citations.
